<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong> </strong> <strong>JUNE-NOVEMBER 2012: <span style="text-decoration: underline;">A whole new world for little Ani:</span></strong> <strong>Solemen met Sarah Chapman in June 2012. Together we transformed little Ani’s life – our first OUTREACH project and a true turning <strong>point for the </strong></strong><strong style="line-height: 1.6em;"><strong>Solemen.</strong></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/526430_491530234195170_820287173_n.jpg"><img class="wp-image-853 alignleft" title="526430_491530234195170_820287173_n" src="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/526430_491530234195170_820287173_n.jpg" alt="" width="178" height="196" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/IMG_2778.jpg"><img class="wp-image-854 aligncenter" title="IMG_2778" src="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/IMG_2778.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="200" /></a> <strong>Kadek Ani, an 8 year old girl from Sideman Regency of Karangasem, whose mother left when she was aged six months old with no further contact. She lived with her psychotic father and grandmother, sleeping on the kitchen floor on newspaper whilst her father was locked most of the day in the bedroom due to fits of violence. The situation was tragic as Ani weighed only 6.4kgs and dying. She was severely malnourished due to a cleft palate and deaf due to a chronic ear infection. She had severe developmental delay, unable even to sit up. The family had no income as her father was unable to work and her grandma being frail and elderly. They had no help from the Government!</strong><strong></strong> <strong> </strong> <strong>Sarah, now team leader for Solemen’s ‘OUTREACH’ programs rode, with her friend, an eight hour return bike journey 3 times per week followed by 15 mins trek up a hill to reach little Ani&rsquo;s village bringing aid and specialist nutrition to her and the family.</strong><strong> </strong><strong>Solemen responded to Sarah’s appeal on Facebook and together arranged for little Ani to be assessed</strong><strong> at Sanglah hospital, where she was fed and her condition monitored. This included checks for her measurements and her responses. Ani responded fast and positively to the nursing and developed great bonds with those involved in her care. A couple of months transformed her from a feral child, only able to communicate with aggression hissing and biting. She developed with love and care into a well balanced child learning very quickly and achieved a lot of firsts.</strong></p>
<p><strong></strong> <strong></strong> <strong></strong> <strong></strong><strong></strong> <a href="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/IMG_3217.jpg"><img class="wp-image-855 alignleft" title="IMG_3217" src="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/IMG_3217-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="240" height="160" /></a> <a href="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/IMG_4039.jpg"><img class="wp-image-857 alignright" title="DANIEL IN POOL" src="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/DANIEL-IN-POOL-300x257.jpg" alt="" width="180" height="154" /></a><a href="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/IMG_4039.jpg"><img class="wp-image-856 aligncenter" title="IMG_4039" src="http://www.solemen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/IMG_4039-300x285.jpg" alt="" width="158" height="151" /></a></p>
<div style="text-align: justify;">  <strong>Very sadly little Ani passed away in hospital after collapsing suddenly in her foster home due to complications from her cleft palate. In the very short time under our care she attended school at our partner YPAC for the first time, went to adventure playgrounds, swam and played in the sand so learning what life should be about. We cared for Ani until the last, taking her lifeless body back to her village for burial. We are awaiting her cremation ceremony as determined by her family.</strong> <strong>Ani touched so many hearts worldwide and became the turning point for Solemen to establish their OUTREACH unit to search out for, and be able to react immediately to alleviate suffering in individual cases.</strong> <strong>                      </strong></div>
